Kant doesn’t stir emotions any more. Really?

A philosophical argument over views on Immanuel Kant descended into violent mayhem in southern Russia, leading to a man being shot several times.

  1. Curiouser and curioser. The news piece is almost philosophical. However, considering that there is no actual information on what the debate was about, my suspicion is that it could also be the classical debate on whether Kant was Russian or Prussian. So it might be that it was nationalism all over again.
These types of incidents convince me that the main argument against the legalization of firearms is practical. If you give an angry person a gun he will shoot, even in a philosophical dispute. If there are no guns, no one will use them, and chances of dying in a dispute clearly diminishes.
